As a Counselor in Training/Safety Technician at Maryville, you will be part of a great and dedicated team to assist and provide specialized expertise and a shared commitment to utilizing evidence-based practices for long-term recovery.

Our staff is also committed to providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to implement social skill interventions and support for patients to gain the necessary adaptive skills to be successful in recovery.
Position Responsibilities Assists clients with following daily schedules.
Enforces client rules for program.
Conducts new admissions orientation multiple times a week.
Conducts searches of client rooms and client items.
Cleans and sanitizes client rooms.
Changes linens in client rooms in between discharges.
Assists with organizing and scheduling drug screens for clients.
Assists with new admissions and discharges.
Communicates events of the previous shifts during shift changes.
Models professionalism while working with clients and coworkers.
Completes mandatory daily inspections and searches of client living quarters and fire safety equipment and fire log book.
Performs light housekeeping as needed for common areas and workstation.
Maintains and updates log book while on shift.
Updates roll call sheets, the census, and finalizes emails to Counselors about the shift.
Communicates with clinical staff regarding client needs and behaviors.
Attends, participates, and assists with facilitating special events, including fundraising events.
Transports clients to hospital, doctor appointments, and After Care.
Attends client group meetings, lectures, and meetings as required and conduct didactic lectures.
Provides crisis intervention services and respond to emergency situations as needed.
Follows procedures in response to all emergencies and demonstrates calm and controlled behaviors during a crisis situation, properly documents the findings with incident reports and results of the response.
Be alert for activities which could result in possible crisis and assist in situations in a professional and efficient manner.
Provides a courteous, respectful and pleasant interaction with each client and employee.
Maintains and displays good public relations skills when interacting with clients, visitors, and staff.
Adheres to COVID-19 safety protocols, including monitoring isolation rooms for COVID-19 symptomatic clients.
Performs all other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Position Responsibilities Associates Degree in Human Services, Mental Health or Social Work is preferred; High School Diploma or GED is required.
One year of prior experience working in a residential or similar environment within the human services industry is preferred.
Previous experience working with the public (such as customer service, retail) is required.
Computer experience (Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook)) is required.
Valid driver's license and car insurance.
A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check will be completed.
Flexibility is a must; rotating weekends and holidays are mandatory.
